If you’re planning a Grand Canyon hike, love outdoor adventure, or want to see what it really takes to complete a rim-to-rim hike, this video is for you. 👉 Watch to the end for our nighttime finish, hard-earned celebration, and must-know tips for a successful hike! #GrandCanyon #RimToRim #GrandCanyonHike #NorthKaibabTrail #BrightAngelTrail #HikingAdventure #BucketListHike #NationalParks #OutdoorAdventure In October, our group decided to hike from the North Rim of the Grand Canyon to the South Rim in one day! This has been a bucket list item for me for years so I jumped at the chance. We drove from Lehi, Utah to the North Rim and stayed in cabins. Then, we hit the trail at 6 a.m. the next morning. We had 13 people so we divided up into 2 separate groups to avoid congestion. The sun rose quickly and illuminated the spectacular rock formations. This video will give you a feel for what it’s like to hike across the Grand Canyon in one day. It’s over 20 miles total. We descended into the Grand Canyon dropping over a mile in elevation, then across the Colorado River and back up the South Rim. We started in the dark and ended in the dark. We started around 6 a.m. and finished around 8 p.m. About 14 hours total with about 12 hours of actual hiking time. We learned some lessons along the way about staying hydrated and always nibbling or eating frequently, also some ideas about how best to train and some other tips are in the video. Thanks to Craig and Kim who invited me on this adventure! Thanks to Marian who was our shuttle driver and thanks to everyone in our hiking group as we cheered each other on when the going got tough. The temperature was over 100 degrees at the bottom of the canyon near Phantom Ranch, even in October! 00:00 Lehi, Utah 00:08 Lehi Roller Mills 00:22 Beaver, Utah 00:31 Cedar City, Hermie’s Restaurant 00:37 Coolant hose blowout 00:56 Grand Canyon Arrival and sunset sight seeing 01:39 Grand Canyon Lodge 02:04 The hike begins 02:43 Coconino Overlook 03:57 Supai Tunnel rest stop 04:28 Supai Tunnel 05:35 Epic red rock walls 07:34 A particularly scenic spot 08:25 Tiny earth 360 camera vantage 12:15 Red Wall Bridge 13:37 Cool cactus view 14:00 Roaring Springs 14:15 Manzanita rest stop 15:24 Bridge crossing 16:23 Guy hiking with a bicycle on his back! 16:52 Cottonwood Campground 18:10 Buddha Temple 18:26 Ribbon Falls 19:40 “The Box” 20:15 another bridge 20:31 Phantom Ranch 20:54 Bright Angel Campground 21:15 Silver Bridge Colorado River Crossing 25:46 Silver Bridge with Black Bridge in the background 26:00 Hiking along the Colorado River 27:57 Helicopter 28:02 Deer 28:20 Grand Canyon Rim-to-Rim tips for a successful hike, 5 tips listed 29:03 Havasupai Gardens (previously called Indian Gardens) 29:27 Looking up to the South Rim destination 29:50 Looking back to the North Rim 30:18 Hiking in the dark, headlights, hikers 30:51 South Rim tunnel 31:03 We made it!
