Islam Makhachev's Camp vs. Dana White: A Prates CLASH

Islam Makhachev’s coach, Javier Mendez, disputes the claim that a fight with Carlos Prates was set for UFC 336. Mendez said the UFC never offered Makhachev the matchup, adding that his camp had not said it was fighting Prates next. He did say Prates was deserving of a title shot. The disagreement follows an official UFC 333 broadcast announcement that Prates will fight Michael Morales for the interim UFC welterweight title at UFC 336. Dana White said Makhachev did not want to fight Prates in January, while Mendez contests that an offer was ever made. That difference matters as the welterweight title picture moves toward an interim title fight rather than the matchup many fans expected. #IslamMakhachev #CarlosPrates #JavierMendez #MichaelMorales #UFC336 #UFC333 #UFC #MMA #Welterweight #UFCWelterweight #InterimTitle #DanaWhite #UFCTitleFight
