-------- “Gada Meilin”, Symphonic Poem Composer｜XIN Hu-Guang Arranger｜LIU Wen-Jin Condutor｜Liu, Chiang-Pin Concert｜The Reverberance of HCYCO Date｜2024.08.10 Venue｜National Concert Hall, Taiwan The symphonic poem “Gada Meilin” is composed in sonata form and derived from a Mongolian folk song of the same name that celebrates the heroic deeds of Mongolian hero, Gada Meilin, who led herdsmen in a brave uprising against the cruel feudal lords and warlords. Following a slow and serene introduction, the first main theme, which is beautiful, flowing, and folk-like, depicts the vast grasslands that gave rise to this national hero. The second theme, with its dynamic rhythm, portrays Gada Meilin rallying the herdsmen to fight. The themes undergo rich and varied development, gradually building the musical tension to a climax, vividly presenting a heroic and intense battle scene. The piece concludes by sorrowfully revisiting the first theme, expressing the people’s mourning for the fallen hero. Subsequently, through changes in tempo and dynamics, the mournful elegy transforms into a tribute to Gada Meilin, ending with a passionate and powerful horn call. Originally composed as a symphonic poem in 1956, this piece has been adapted for a Chinese orchestra to better highlight its ethnic characteristics. This is the performance by “Hsinchu City Youth Chinese Orchestra”, Taiwan.
