Your resume says "92A." Or "11B." Or "25B." You know exactly what those Army job codes mean — but a civilian hiring manager may not. If your resume relies on military titles, acronyms, and abbreviations, the reader might miss the skills you spent years developing. The problem isn't necessarily your experience. Sometimes, it's the translation.
In this episode, we walk through the Bravo Zulu Translation Method: start with your military duty, describe the task in plain language, identify the civilian skill it demonstrates, add a measurable result or scope only when you have accurate information to support it, then match that experience to a real job posting. We apply the method to five Army examples — 92A, 11B, 35F, 25B, and 68W — and show three free tools that can help you identify potential civilian occupations. The same rule runs throughout: describe the task, identify the civilian skill, support your claims, and connect the experience to the job you want. Never invent experience, and never put classified, sensitive, or unauthorized information on a resume.
