My 1997 Jeep Cherokee XJ started squealing and fraying its serpentine belt after only about 10,000 miles. I pulled the old one off, spun every pulley by hand, and found the real culprit. Spoiler: it was a problem. And it turned into a three-part saga. Next time, I try stealing the pulley off my '87.
