Oasis - Live in London, Earls Court Exhibition Centre, 27/9/1997

25 years ago, Oasis played their final gig at Earls Court. Three days of noise, insanity, and laser pointers. The band is still on top, but Liam is noticeably more croaky than the previous two nights. The night is pretty much the same as the previous two until after Live Forever when Liam and Noel catch someone pointing a laser at them. Noel addresses the man as Luke Skywalker and Liam threatens to stab the man from head to toe. After It's Gettin' Better (Man!!), the man continues and now Noel addresses the man as Darth Vader. There is a bootleg of the third night called "Darth Vader Night," a reference to this moment. There are two recordings of the third night. The first recording is complete but is much lower in quality. The second recording, however, is much better in quality, but Some Might Say is missing. So what I have done is mix the better recording with Some Might Say from the complete recording to give an overall better experience of the gig, which has the missing banter that the gig that's already posted on youtube does not have. This audio mix runs at 108 minutes, the usual time length of the gigs in late September, as they begin to climb into the 110-minute range later in the tour. This show is arguably the more famous show of the three, as four different pro-shot clips have been released. Be Here Now, D'You Know What I Mean?, Magic Pie, and Fade In-Out. However, the audio used in these clips for some reason or another was not from Earls Court, but from the second night at the Hammerstein Ballroom, where Liam was arguably in better shape. I have no idea why they used Hammerstein Ballroom audio. In fact, I don't think anybody knows. Bootlegs for a very long time, and even youtube videos, also claimed the audio to be from Earls Court. After listening to all of these gigs, I would have to say the best night is indeed the second night, followed by the first, then the third. Liam's tiredness follows him to the Birmingham shows on the 29th and 30th, and his rasp begins to show. In 2007 Oasis would return to Earls Court, 10 years after kicking up a storm to perform a few songs at the Brit Awards. After 77 years of operation, Earls Court would close in 2014 and would begin a year period of a teardown.
