What happens when you stop trying to photograph fungi exactly as they look and start creating the woodland you imagine? In this creative fungi photography adventure, I experiment with macro photography, focus stacking, a modified Helios lens, unusual lighting and a few rather unconventional techniques to transform ordinary fungi into something much more enchanted. It all began with a wonderful group of tiny Fairy Ink Caps. I started by photographing them with my OM-1 and 90mm macro lens, experimenting with different depths of focus before swapping to my modified Helios to create a much softer, dreamier interpretation. From there, things became increasingly experimental! I photograph Grisettes and Honey Fungus, play with natural and added light, crystals and homemade filters, and finally take things considerably further with a Blusher that appears to glow in its own little enchanted blue woodland. I love detailed, technically precise fungi photography, but I also love using photography to show something beyond what was simply in front of the camera — how a place felt, or even how I imagined it could look. Which do you prefer: the detailed focus-stacked photographs or the softer, more magical interpretations? I’d also love to know if you’d be interested in a future video exploring fungi folklore and photography — fairy rings, strange old beliefs, magical stories and photographs inspired by them. I have a feeling that could send me down quite a rabbit hole! Thanks so much for watching, and I hope this encourages you to experiment, play and perhaps find a little magic in your own photography. 🍄✨ #FungiPhotography #MacroPhotography #CreativePhotography #MushroomPhotography My Etsy shop for texture packs & full Submerged flower tutorial https://shorturl.at/JXOVl Equipment I often use - or as close as I could find, some of my equipment is up to 20 years old so I do not have links but I have found suitable alternatives that perform the same function Benro 3 way geared tripod head https://amzn.to/4cSF60j OM1 camera https://amzn.to/3QBoySY Olympus system Zuiko 90mm macro lens https://amzn.to/4vPC2KY Olympus MC20 2x converter https://amzn.to/48nO6ci Helping hands that I use https://amzn.to/3PZn4l8 Helping hands with up to 6 arms https://amzn.to/4sS4ObY Adjustable Microscope stand similar to the one I use https://amzn.to/4c0oOmY Or instead of a microscope stand you could use a lab lifting platform to hold petals and foil etc - these are very useful for close up or macro photography https://amzn.to/4e9SNtV Lab stand ( not the same as mine as mine is 15-20 years old but same idea) https://amzn.to/4cdMwuH Light tent https://amzn.to/3NQ75W3 Small portable diffuser - fits on lenses but can be held by helping hands https://amzn.to/4tzUgOv Sony 90mm macro lens https://amzn.to/4smYWX9 Sony A7iii camera https://amzn.to/4bZXaXb My website - www.angiwallacephotography.com My Instagram accounts -   / angiwallacephotography   main page   / submerged_flowers_     / texturetreasuretrove     / transcendent_realms   - abstract & ICM My Facebook pages   / angiwallacecreativephotographyandart     / reptileandfrogphotographer
