Anna Weber-van Bosse is the flagship of the Dutch Research Fleet.
With multiple on-board laboratories and a flexible, state-of-the-art design, the ship can support ambitious ocean research for decades to come. From the tropics to the edge of the polar ice.
Her state-of-the-art design enables scientists to collect data and samples in some of the world's most challenging marine environments - from the tropics to the edge of the polar ice, and under highly variable conditions. Standard and custom-built research equipment can be tailored to each expedition. A dedicated, sheltered CTD station on the port side allows water-column sampling to continue uninterrupted while seabed sampling and other overboard operations take place from the starboard side.
These separate working areas, the spacious aft deck and interchangeable laboratory containers allow multiple research teams to work simultaneously. Wet and dry laboratories enable samples and data to be processed and analysed immediately on board.
The vessel is also equipped with permanently installed measuring systems. Its drop keel supports high-quality underwater communication and measurement. Advanced insulation helps reduce underwater noise and limits the vessel’s impact on the marine environment.
Together, these capabilities ensure the Anna Weber-van Bosse is ready for decades of innovative marine research.
