மகா ம்ருத்யுஞ்ஜய மந்திரம் 🕉️ Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra, the great death-conquering prayer to Lord Shiva, sung with Tamil verses on its meaning.
The ancient mantra comes from the Rig Veda (7.59.12) and is addressed to Tryambaka, the three-eyed Lord. Between its chants, Tamil verses open its meaning: the three-eyed Lord who protects the three worlds, his grace spreading like fragrance, release from every bondage as gently as a ripe fruit leaves its vine, freedom from the fear of death, and the nectar of the deathless state.
The visuals are painted in a warm, classic Tamil devotional style in indigo, silver and sacred fire: Shiva in meditation on snowy Kailash under the moon, abhishekam in a lamp-lit sanctum, Nataraja in the ring of fire, Neelakanta with the crescent moon and Ganga, young Markandeya at the lingam, and a single steady lamp in the dark.
Om Namah Shivaya 🙏 Hara Hara Mahadeva!
