The Clock Was Against Me… | Amazon Trucker

Another day in the life of an Amazon tramper… except this one turned into one of the longest and most stressful days I’ve had on the road. I started out in Sheffield and worked my way down towards Dartford, with stops and jobs all over the place. What was supposed to be a normal day just kept getting busier, and before I knew it I was approaching a 15-hour day. By the end, I had just 11 minutes of driving time left before I would need to take a 45-minute break to get more driving time. The problem? I only had around 30 minutes of Working Time Directive time left, so taking that break wasn’t really going to solve the situation anyway. This is where the reality of the job really starts to show. You can see the stress building as the day goes on, and by the end I’m absolutely shattered. Some of the footage towards the end is especially raw. There were things going through my head that I was replaying afterwards, and although I wasn’t actually recording at one point, you can see the emotions and stress coming through. I decided to leave those moments in because this is real life as a truck driver. Not every day is easy, not every day goes to plan, and sometimes the pressure just gets to you. I’ve also changed things up with the cameras for this vlog. Rather than my usual head mount, I’ve used a chest-mounted camera as well as a camera mounted at the back of the cab looking forwards, so you get a much better view of the road, the cab and me while I’m driving. It’s all about giving you a genuine look at what it’s like spending a long day behind the wheel as an Amazon tramper. Sheffield ➡️ Dartford ➡️ everywhere in between.
