Krithi: Budhamashrayami Satatham Ragam: Nattakurinji Thalam: Misra Jhampa Composer: Muthuswami Dikshidar Vocal: Anuradha Krishnamurthy Anuradha Krishnamurthy, also known as Anuradha Suresh Krishnamurthy, is a distinguished Carnatic vocalist renowned for her contributions to Indian classical music. Born into a musical lineage, she is the daughter of the esteemed Carnatic musician, Professor K.V. Narayanaswamy, and Padma Narayanaswamy. Her father, often referred to as KVN, was a prominent figure in Carnatic music, celebrated for his adherence to traditional styles and his association with the legendary Ariyakudi Ramanuja Iyengar. Anuradha's musical journey commenced at the tender age of three under the guidance of her mother, Smt. Padma Narayanaswamy. Her early immersion in music laid a robust foundation for her future endeavors. She further honed her skills under the mentorship of her father, absorbing the rich traditions of Carnatic music. Her dedication and talent led her to receive the prestigious Ford Foundation Scholarship in 1991, enabling her to study under Padmabhushan Smt. T. Brinda and Sangeetha Kalanidhi Dr. T. Viswanathan for six months. She has since graced numerous esteemed platforms and has also performed internationally in many countries.Throughout her career, Anuradha has been the recipient of numerous accolades, reflecting her mastery and dedication to the art form. Anuradha Krishnamurthy's approach to music is characterized by a deep respect for traditional Carnatic principles, seamlessly blended with innovative ideas. Her contributions have solidified her position as a luminary in the Indian Carnatic music landscape. In this composition dedicated to Budha (Mercury), Dikshidar praises him as the wise and radiant son of Chandra, honored by the gods and revered by scholars. Budha is depicted as a gentle, blissful deity who delights in the devotion of the learned and bestows gifts of intelligence, poetic ability, and noble prosperity, while ruling over the zodiac signs Gemini and Virgo. He shines like saffron; he brings joy to Guruguha (Subramanya). Enemy of Kuja (Mars), he is adorned with jewel-studded crown, garlands, armlets, bracelets and other ornaments. Extremely pleasing in form; he rules over the signs Gemini and Virgo. He holds a book in his hand and is depicted as neuter.
