Exploring ways to use two voices in a small system while maximizing the potential of a limited amount of modulation sources. Also playing around with separating pitch and gate sequences. Recorded September 3, 2026.
Modules:
ALM Busy Circuits Pamela’s New Workout
After Later Audio uO_C (Ornament & Crime)
Doepfer A-111-6 Miniature Synthesizer Voice
Mutable Instruments Beads
XAOC Devices Zagrzeb
Intellijel Mixup
Happy Nerding FX Aid
Expert Sleepers Disting Mk4
2hp Out
Case: 4ms Pod 64x
Patch Notes:
This patch features two voices. The Doepfer A-111-6 handles the bass, set to a triangle wave with a little of the sub-oscillator mixed in. Its pitch sequence comes from a looped set of random voltages from Pamela’s New Workout quantized to a minor scale. Another Pam's channel outputs a slower smooth random voltage that modulates both the VCF cutoff and the length of the looped sequence. So when the bassline is longer and more complex, the filter is also more open. While the pitch sequence comes from Pam’s, the gate sequence comes from the EuclidX applet in Ornament and Crime running the Phazerville firmware. It’s running a 19 step Euclidean sequence, with the number of gates modulated by another Pam’s channel. This way, the bassline not only changes length, but also density. The second voice is Beads acting as a wavetable synth. The second Euclidean sequence from EuclidX sends gates to the Seed input. This one is set to 17 steps, with 7 added empty steps at the end, and the number of gates also modulated from Pam’s. The pitch comes from the ProbMeloD applet, which is triggered by each of these gates. The Dry/Wet control is modulated so the sequence changes from using Beads’ internal envelope generator to being “always on.” The output of Beads goes through the Zagrzeb stereo filter, which receives a slow LFO from Pam’s to modulate the cutoff, along with the output of the second ProbMeloD channel. Both voices run through the Mixup and in to FX Aid running a bloom reverb algorithm. The output goes to Disting for recording, then out to the 2hp Out for monitoring.
Sorry about the flickering screen on the O_C. I’ll see if I can get the camera frame rate and screen refresh rate to match up before recording the next video.
