The Nigerian Government has warned that reversing petrol subsidy removal could trigger capital flight, pressure the foreign exchange market, and threaten Nigeria's economic reforms. Finance Minister Taiwo Oyedele delivered the warning during a media briefing in Bangkok, Thailand, following the 2026 IMF-World Bank Annual Meetings. Central Bank Governor Olayemi Cardoso and Budget Minister Atiku Bagudu also discussed Nigeria's economic outlook and the implications of the government's policies.
