Massive Scenic Montgomery KONE Traction Elevator @ RiverTown Crossings, Grandville, MI

This elevator is about as big as my car. That's not an exaggeration. It's freaking huge. It could easily fit 20 people with plenty of room to spare. It's traction, too, so it excels in moving those large volumes of shoppers efficiently: exactly what's needed for a massive mall like this. But for what a beast this elevator is, it's also got a healthy dose of beauty: it runs both efficiently and elegantly, as smooth as Tennessee whiskey. Its brass cab is stylish, and dwarfs its Series 220 operating panel, with a nice tile floor mimicking the tile and stone work throughout the mall. The bright-blue doors are a remnant of the mall's original color scheme (phased out in the 2020s in favor of black), and the partially-frosted windows offer panoramic views of the central atrium. If you look closely, however, you'll notice that the cab is asymmetrical in a few places. Installed: c.1999
