Ringo Bushi Drill: Mastering Measure 7

This is one of several supplemental exercises I've created for Ringo Bushi. The goal is not to memorize difficult movements, but to break challenging phrases down into manageable steps. I'll be sharing additional Ringo Bushi exercises on Patreon over the coming weeks, each focusing on a different phrase or technique from the song. ❖ ❖ ❖ If you've been practicing my Ringo Bushi play-along, you may have noticed that measure 7 can feel surprisingly difficult at first. The phrase combines several techniques in quick succession, and many students instinctively try to perform everything at once. The result is usually tension, rushed movements, and a feeling that there isn't enough time. The good news is that there is enough time. In this exercise, we'll break the phrase down into three manageable steps. To make the process easier, we'll start with a very similar phrase from *Sakura*, a song many shamisen players already know. From there, we'll gradually transform it into the complete Ringo Bushi phrase. The goal is not to memorize a new sequence of movements. The goal is to recognize that the phrase is built from familiar elements and to learn how to execute them one after another without rushing.
