Gilbert Arenas says successful Black men would date Black women more if they were more SUBMISSIVE, but DJ Akademiks isn't buying that argument! 😳 And after watching the conversation with Melli Monaco and Nick Young on the We Said What We Said podcast, AK had a completely different perspective.
On We Said What We Said, Gilbert Arenas, Melli Monaco and Nick Young get into a conversation about dating outside your race, independent women and what successful men actually want in relationships.
Gilbert argues that some Black women are raised to be so independent that it can create competition instead of partnership when dating successful men. He also brings up family backgrounds and why he believes women from other cultures may approach relationships differently.
But Akademiks has something to say about THAT. 😂
“BLACK WOMEN AIN'T NOTHING WRONG WITH Y'ALL!”
AK says he understands why successful men might want a more submissive partner, but he completely disagrees with making it a race issue.
He starts talking about his own experiences dating women from different backgrounds and says anybody who thinks switching races automatically means finding a more peaceful relationship is in for a surprise. 😭
According to AK, he's met women of every background who are supportive and easygoing, and others who bring just as much drama as anybody else.
He even admits he used to believe some of those stereotypes himself until his dating experiences changed his perspective.
Akademiks also brings up TikTok, social media and modern dating expectations, arguing that the way people think about relationships has more to do with the culture around them than their race.
The conversation comes down to one question: Is independence really the problem, or are people expecting the wrong things from their partners? 👀
Y'all tell me: Does Gilbert Arenas have a point about successful men wanting submissive women, or did Akademiks make more sense when he said race has nothing to do with it? And what did y'all think about the discussion with Melli Monaco and Nick Young? 👇🏾
