Le Verre Français / Charder – Cygnes Vase 1927 / 1929 - Antiques Emporium Glass Collection

This elegant vase is made by Charles Schneider under the line of “Le Verre Français / Charder” in a very popular and extremely decorative decor, namely “Cygnes” which is the French name for swans. The intens contrasting colors used in this vase are characteristic of the period of Le Verre Français between 1927 – 1929. The vase is blown on a multi-coloured base with inclusions of white, yellow and orange with a maroon top layer, which is then etched into this decor using an etching technique. The elegant design of this vase depicts 2 swans on either side, gracefully stretching their necks towards the sky. The white glass powder inclusions represent the water on which the swans float with a representation of a warm colored sky using the colors yellow and orange. The top layer of maroon glass has been etched to represent the ripple in the water, the swans and the overhanging branches. The Cygnes decor is available in 2 variants. This variant was made for the French market, where the representation with opposite colors (sky white and the water in yellow and orange) was made for the export market.
