Hello everyone. We have returned to Lehighton PA today to see what kind of old railroad relics remain hidden in the woods. In 1865 the Lehigh Valley Railroad began construction of a huge facility known as Packerton yard. This facility stretched almost 2 miles at one time and contained at least one roundhouse if not two along with a huge car shop where, in the beginning, they were producing coal hoppers. There were tracks as far as the eye could see and i believe over two thousand men worked at the facility. I believe we have stumbled upon some of the work pits that may have been in the original roundhouse. That is a guess however. Let’s go take a look and tell me what you think. Thank you for watching. 1/12/25
