Penguins Can't Fly

Notes: I probably spent more time on this song than the other three combined. When I finished the first draft, I thought it was complete, but then the next day I listened to it and was like "wtf this is terrible." So I spent a lot more time trying to improve it. The song is definitely pretty repetitive, but, ironically, it's the only one from this soundtrack I gave a clear ending to. It probably wouldn't sound as interesting if I hadn't used as many instruments as I did. Some of parts of the song use an odd number of bars instead of an even one, the goal with that was to make the player feel a bit more rushed. I know I improved it with the addition of a second drumset, which you can first hear around 1:01. It more or less plays the exact same stuff as the main drumset, but it makes the beat sound a bit "meatier," if that makes sense. The philicorda and the guitar solos were probably the most revised parts of the song. I would write something complicated, and then when I re-listened an hour later, it wouldn't sound as good to me anymore. So I decided to make it all a lot simpler, because what's the point of a complicated melody if it goes by so fast that you can't process and appreciate it? It definitely felt way longer than 3 minutes when I was making it. Probably because of the fast tempo. I know I said this song is repetitive, but I'm pretty I sure I wrote way more ideas into it than I have for any other song of a similar tempo.
