STOP BLAMING THE CARBURETOR! Your muscle car runs poorly. What is the first thing you blame? The carburetor. Hard starting? Carburetor. Will not idle? Carburetor. Hesitation? Carburetor. Running rich? Carburetor. Poor throttle response? Must be the carburetor. So, you rebuild it. You adjust it. Maybe you replace it. And the problem is still there. What if the carburetor was never the problem? This is one of the biggest mistakes I see when diagnosing older muscle cars. The carburetor gets blamed because it is easy to see, easy to adjust, and easy to replace. But the carburetor is only one part of an entire engine system. Ignition timing, distributor problems, vacuum leaks, fuel pressure, fuel delivery, engine condition, incorrect adjustments, and even basic mechanical problems can create symptoms that look exactly like a carburetor problem. And if you diagnose the symptom instead of finding the cause, you can spend hundreds of dollars replacing parts and end up right back where you started. The carburetor may be telling you there is a problem. It may not be causing the problem. So, before you rebuild that carburetor for the third time... STOP GUESSING. START DIAGNOSING. Because if you want your classic muscle car to run right, you need to find out why it is doing what it is doing. Do not blame the carburetor. Find the problem. If you work on muscle cars, classic cars, Mopars, or any older carbureted engine, this video could save you a lot of time, money, and frustration.
