Where Did All the Purple Heather Go? | Smelly Soil & Mum’s Birthday!

We're heading to Ede, the town where Sarah was born, to surprise Sarah's mum with some early birthday presents! 🎂💐 But first… four 40-litre bags of rather smelly garden soil have to come along for the ride. 😅 After a lovely visit, we take our camper Emunah to the Ginkelse Heide — a place filled with childhood memories. Sarah and her family used to come here to walk, fly kites and enjoy the beautiful purple heathland. But this time, something looks very different. The sea of purple heather we remember has largely been replaced by grasses. What happened to it? We explore the heathland, look at some possible explanations, and discover a little of the fascinating history of this special place — from Ede's Heideweek to the airborne landings of 1944.
