HERE COME THE DAWGS [Intro – spoken, building] There’s an old railroad track in Athens, Georgia, and if you listen on a Saturday afternoon, you can hear something coming. It ain’t a train. [Verse 1] From Sanford Field to Saturday nights, Red helmets shining underneath the lights, Old Coach Dooley standing on the side, And Erk had the defense playing Georgia pride. There was Herschel running like a runaway train, Three men hit him — didn’t matter a thing. Buck Belue let it fly, Lindsay hauled it down, And Bulldog people nearly shook the whole damn town. [Pre-Chorus] Through the years, through the fights, Through the heartbreak and the glory nights, There’s one sound every Bulldog knows— Listen close… Here it comes. [Chorus] Here come the Dawgs! Coming down the track! Red and black rolling, And there ain’t no turning back! From the railroad tracks To the hedges standing tall, When Georgia comes to play football, Brother, you better bring it all! GO DAWGS! Glory, glory fills the air, Bulldog people everywhere! Ring that bell and sound the call— HERE COME THE DAWGS! [Verse 2] Larry sat high above that field, And somehow made a radio come alive and feel Like you were standing right there beside him, Holding your breath while the Dawgs went driving. A freshman broke loose — Larry lost his chair, A last-second kick sent his voice through the air. There were hobnail boots and Jacksonville nights, And Dawgs making miracles between those white lines. He didn’t just tell us the down and the score, He made Georgia football something more. Close your eyes and you can hear him yet: “Get the picture, Dawg people…” And we ain’t forgotten. [Bridge – slower, heavy drums] There was Sinkwich. There was Trippi. There was Tarkenton slinging that ball. Dooley built ’em. Erk fired ’em up. And Herschel ran through damn near all of ’em. Championship years, Heartbreaking tears, We stayed Georgia through them all. Now Saturday comes… The band starts playing… And you can hear Bulldog Nation call— [Crowd Chant] GEORGIA! BULLDOGS! GEORGIA! BULLDOGS! [Music drops almost completely] [Spoken – Munson-style homage, not imitation] Somewhere tonight, an old Georgia radio is probably still crackling. And somewhere in our memories, there’s a voice telling us the Dawgs have one more chance. So get the picture… Red helmets. Silver britches. A packed house in Athens. And eleven Georgia Bulldogs fixing to come after somebody. [Drums begin building] Can you hear it? [Final Chorus – full band and choir] HERE COME THE DAWGS! Coming down the track! Red and black thunder, And there ain’t no turning back! From Ty Ty up to Athens, From Savannah to the Hall, Dawg people stand together When we hear that Georgia call! GO DAWGS! Glory, glory fills the air, Red and black is everywhere! Let the whole damn country know— THE GEORGIA BULLDOGS ARE READY TO GO! [Outro – crowd and band] G-E-O-R-G-I-A! GEORGIA! G-E-O-R-G-I-A! GEORGIA! Red helmets! Silver britches! Saturday night! GO DAWGS! [Spoken over final ringing guitar chord] There it is, Dawg people. Coming down the track.
