It was my first time running The Canyons 100K in 2022. It was my first time on the Western States trail. Heck, it was my first time in Auburn. A weekend of firsts, I suppose. Most importantly, it was my first ultra finish since January 2020; a period of time that held way more DNF's than I care to remember.
I recently moved to Southern California and thought I'd take a crack at the notoriously challenging Canyons 100K. With almost 15,000 feet of elevation gain over 62 miles I knew it wouldn't be a walk in the park. I just didn't realize how much it would take from me. I've been ultrarunning for over a decade and that seems to surprise me with every race. It was a tough one but a Finish is a Finish, right?!
This race was a qualifier for UTMB and Western States 100, and thankfully I earned my spot in each with a sub-19 hour finish. See you at UTMB in August 2023!
