I spoke with Lyndsy Fonseca, Robert Buckley and director Dustin Rikert about, “Hallmark’s Holiday Touchdown: A Bears Love Story,” a festive romance that celebrates Chicago Bears fandom, family traditions and finding love when you least expect it. When ambitious freelance reporter Avery Clark (Fonseca) returns to Chicago for Christmas with her mom (Woods) and new stepdad (Payton), she expects some downtime before her next assignment. Instead, she’s tasked with profiling Darlene Donnelly (Mason), a beloved Bears superfan preparing to attend her 500th game. The only problem? Avery knows next to nothing about football or Chicago. Enter Darlene’s handsome grandson Matt (Buckley), a Chicago firefighter and devoted Bears fan who agrees to show Avery what it means to be part of Bears Nation. As Avery discovers Darlene’s cherished game day traditions, explores the festive city and learns about a love story that began at the stadium, she realizes football is about much more than what happens on the field. And as sparks fly between Avery and Matt, she may discover that the best holiday surprise is finding a place and a person that feel like home.
