YAMAHA XSR 900 AT MANTORP PARK, TRACKDAY!

How is the Yamaha XSR 900 on a track? Really good! I felt the need to go back to Mantorp Park but this time with my Yamaha XSR 900 -22. This is only my 4´th trackday in total, and the first on the Yamaha. Unfortunately I had to let go on the throttle everytime I drove pass where they had the sound measuring due to my full system Kelpi Shorty. But hey, the sound of this triple with the Kelpi! Love it! How do you rate it? Half of the day was rainy so that slowed the group down a lot. Later on the track started to dry up and with that the confidence and speed increased. Had a blast on the track with this bike. Such an easy-going machine and great fun in the corners. Of course it lacks a bit of speed on the straights compared to some other bikes, but it makes up for that in terms of pure joy and feedback to the rider. I had a slip at the backwheel in the wet corner, but the traction control saved me from crashing (a potential high sider?!) The bike was fitted with Michelin Road 6´s tyres and they are very forgiving in this condition, allthough not a fast tyre for track days. But I thought they gripped really well considering the conditions. If you ever doubt taking your XSR 900 to the track, think again! It handles the track great for what it is and was intended to be (not a superbike).
