34067 hauls the 'Royal Wessex' and 'Dorset Coast Express' - September 2015

Early September saw the return of SR Unrebuilt Battle of Britain No. 34067 'Tangmere', which was back in action for the first time in a month, after stalling on Hemerdon Bank with the 'Royal Duchy' on the 2nd August. The Pacific took charge of three excursions in the first part of the month, with the 'Royal Wessex' of the 5th September being sandwiched in between the final two 'Dorset Coast Express' specials of 2015, which ran on the 2nd and 9th. Departing Three Bridges, the 'Royal Wessex' would travel to Weymouth, running via Chichester, Netley and Southampton. 34067 would haul the outward leg throughout, whilst the return journey was diesel hauled. We begin with the 'Royal Wessex', and the Pacific is seen chattering through Swanwick station, heading towards the Solent. A second sequence was captured at Wool, and the train drifts through in undramatic fashion, as a result of a temporary speed restriction. This is followed by the final two 'Dorset Coast Express' tours, beginning at Shawford on the 9th. The train is seen hurtling down the fast line, running 20 minutes late. Next we rewind the clock to the previous week's run, and the return journey is seen heading back to London, seen at Redbridge. Thankfully, a passing freight train manages to clear just in time, as 'Tangmere' opens up from the signal check. For the final scene, we fast forward to the final 'DCE', and a crowd has gathered in the early evening to witness the train drift through Romsey station, before accelerating away.
