The Sodder Children Mystery: 5 Children Vanished on Christmas Eve

Five children vanished on Christmas Eve, 1945. Their family never found their bodies—and the questions surrounding their disappearance have never completely gone away. On December 24, 1945, a devastating fire destroyed the Sodder family home in Fayetteville, West Virginia. Five children were believed to have been trapped inside. But no confirmed remains were recovered. What followed was a decades-long mystery involving a missing ladder, a severed telephone line, vehicles that reportedly failed to start, conflicting evidence, and a mysterious photograph that appeared more than 20 years after the fire.
