Some conversations never need words. It’s late. Everybody else has gone to bed. The house is quiet. A man plugs in an old guitar he’s owned for more than twenty years, sits down, and plays the things he’s never figured out how to say. Then one note answers him. And somehow… it understands. 🎸 MY GUITAR KNOWS THINGS I NEVER TOLD ANYBODY is an Electric Blues / Southern Blues-Rock story about the strange relationship between a musician and the instrument that’s been beside him through years nobody else completely knows. There are things his family knows. Things his closest friends know. And then there are truths he’s kept somewhere behind his teeth. Fear. Regret. Grief. Love. Apologies that came too late. People he still misses. Nights when “I’m fine” was doing way too much work. He never explained those things to anybody. But the guitar knew. “I never told anybody how scared I was that year…” 🎸 The guitar answers. “…but you knew.” That’s what makes this record different: the guitar isn’t just playing behind the singer. The guitar is the second voice in the conversation. He remembers buying it used from a pawn shop more than twenty years ago. The finish was already scratched. Three strings needed replacing. The guy behind the counter looked at it and said: “She ain’t pretty.” He answered: “Neither am I.” The guy laughed and knocked forty dollars off. “Best discount I ever got.” 😂🎸 That beat-up guitar was there after funerals. After arguments. After phone calls he couldn’t understand. After nights when anger was running hotter than his ability to explain it. So instead of talking… he put his hands on six strings. And made noise until the noise made sense. Because an instrument doesn’t interrupt. It doesn’t tell you that you shouldn’t feel that way. It doesn’t demand an explanation. It doesn’t try to fix you. It waits. And when you’re ready… it answers. One of the deepest moments comes when his son asks: “Dad, what’s that song called?” “It doesn’t have a name.” “Then how do you know what to play?” And Dad realizes he doesn’t really have an answer. Because: “Some songs don’t start with words. They start with something you carried too long finally finding somewhere else to live.” 🎸💙 Maybe that’s why musicians keep certain instruments long after something newer or more expensive could replace them. The value isn’t always in the wood. Or the pickups. Or what somebody would pay for it. Sometimes the value is everything that instrument was there for. Every room. Every year. Every loss. Every good night. Every terrible one. Every truth your mouth couldn’t translate. And after twenty years together… you don’t always need to explain yourself anymore. “You remember that night?” 🎸 Guitar answers. “Yeah. That one.” 🎸 “I never told her how close I was to falling apart.” 🎸 “Don’t tell her now.” 🎸 … “Smart mouth.” 😂 Then the guitar gets the final word. The singer says he’s finished for the night. The guitar answers. “I said that’s enough.” Another little phrase. … “Fine. One more.” He plays. The guitar responds.
