How a Walker Learns to Climb, Open a Door, or Burn

Season 1 walkers bumped into glass doors. By the later shows they climb fences, turn handles, and in France some of them burn you when you touch them. How did the dead learn all that, and why did the show change its own rules? A chronological walk through every walker behavior upgrade across The Walking Dead universe, from Atlanta to Paris. What we track: The early rules. Shambling, glass doors, ladders pulled up like drawbridges, and survivors who felt safe behind any wall. Quiet hints. Walkers angling toward doors and ladders with more intention than the prison herds ever showed. The variants arrive. A walker that ducks Aaron's swing, climbers on the walls, and survivors realizing the old tricks stop working. The lab clue. An empty facility, a sprinting walker on the other side of the door, and a hint that someone was experimenting. France. Rapides, Bruleurs and the walkers that make close quarters fighting nearly impossible, as Daryl moves inland. Theories. Natural evolution, human experiments, or a messy mix of both. What it means for the walls. If the dead keep changing, how do the living keep up? Walker Atlas charts the Walking Dead story across the main show and every spinoff.
