From One Project to Three Creations | Part I

What if one wood project could become three completely different creations? In this project, I started with one large segmented wood blank and turned it into three unique pieces. This video shows the first creation from that project. For this piece, I combined Jackfruit wood, Sycamore, Ironwood, and Mahogany veneer to create a bold pattern with strong contrasts between the light and dark wood. The process begins with a simple-looking segmented blank, but as the piece is turned on the lathe, the hidden pattern slowly comes to life. Each cut reveals more of the design and transforms the original blank into something completely different. For the final finish, I used beeswax to enhance the natural colors and grain of the wood while giving the surface a smooth and warm finish.
