Join me on another motorcycle adventure through the Peak District as I ride a scenic loop taking in Winnats Pass, Bakewell, Matlock Bath and the Cat and Fiddle Road. The day begins with a ride through the Peak District and the stunning Winnats Pass, followed by a stop in Bakewell to pick up some original Bakewell tarts — or “Annie cakes”, as my grandad always called them. From there, I head to Matlock Bath, explore the famous promenade, grab some fish and chips and wait out a heavy downpour. The journey continues towards the Cat and Fiddle Road, often described as one of the UK’s most dangerous roads. Unfortunately, the route is closed due to a landslide, so I’m redirected towards Macclesfield and Manchester before making my way home to Wigan. Along the way, we’ll see: Winnats Pass in the Peak District Stunning Derbyshire countryside Bakewell and its original Bakewell tarts Matlock Bath Fish and chips at the Promenade Fish Bar Heavy rain and motorcycle waterproof struggles A landslide closure on the Cat and Fiddle Road Filtering through traffic and motorcycle safety A few unexpected roadside encounters Scenic views, wildlife and plenty of riding chat I’m also asking anyone who owns a Yamaha Ténéré to share their experience. How comfortable is it on long rides? Is the seat suitable for 8–9 hour days? Would it make a good next bike? And remember: nobody has to ride alone.
