Manipur Assembly Boycott: 9 Naga MLAs Protest Kangpokpi Killings, Demand Justice

Manipur’s fragile political climate has come under fresh strain after nine Naga MLAs boycotted the ongoing Assembly session, protesting what they describe as delays in delivering justice to Naga civilians killed in Kangpokpi district. The legislators, cutting across party lines, are demanding time-bound action in connection with the deaths of six Naga civilians who were allegedly abducted from a village in Kangpokpi on May 13. Their bodies were recovered on June 10 during a joint search operation. The protesting MLAs have demanded the arrest of Thangboi Kipgen, president of the Kuki National Front (P), whom they have accused of being the main accused in the killings.
