He was an accomplished yogi, scholar, artist, and spiritual master who dedicated his life to spreading devotion to Lord Dattatreya, preserving the teachings of the Datta tradition, and guiding thousands of seekers on the path of Shaktipat Yoga, devotion, and self-realization. Early Life Shri Gulavani Maharaj was born on 23 December 1886 (Margashirsha Vadya Trayodashi) in Maharashtra to Shri Dattabhat Gulavani and Smt. Umabai. From childhood he displayed exceptional intelligence, artistic talent, devotion, and a deep inclination toward spirituality. Along with his formal education, he cultivated interests in Sanskrit, painting, music, and religious studies. Divine Meeting with Shri Vasudevananda Saraswati (Tembe Swami Maharaj) A defining moment in his spiritual life came when he met the great Datta saint Shrimad Vasudevananda Saraswati (Tembe Swami Maharaj). As a young devotee, Vamanrao Maharaj personally painted a beautiful image of Lord Dattatreya and offered it to Tembe Swami Maharaj. Deeply pleased with his devotion, Tembe Swami blessed him and granted him spiritual initiation (Anugraha) on the auspicious day of Anant Chaturdashi. This blessing became the foundation of his lifelong spiritual mission. Shaktipat Yoga and His Guru Later, Shri Gulavani Maharaj came under the guidance of Loknath Tirth Swami Maharaj, from whom he received the authority to initiate deserving seekers through Shaktipat Diksha. He became one of the foremost exponents of authentic Shaktipat Yoga in Maharashtra. Through his grace, countless seekers experienced profound inner transformation and spiritual awakening.
