Fantasy reading ambience — two hours of rain on the window and a crackling fire, with a dragon asleep by the hearth. No talking, no music, just the room. Emberhollow is a house built into a hillside, kept warm by a dragon too old and too comfortable to leave. Her name is Sorrel. Tonight it is raining, the fire is banked low, and she has no intention of moving. WHAT YOU HEAR Rain against old leaded glass. A fire crackling and settling. The slow breathing of a very large sleeping animal. Nothing sudden, nothing that will make you look up from your book. GOOD FOR Reading, studying, writing, working, falling asleep, and rainy afternoons when you cannot be outside. Two hours long, so you should not have to touch it. ABOUT THIS SCENE "Sorrel Sleeping by the Hearth" is the first scene in Emberhollow. Every video is one room in one house, lit by one fire, in one season — so over time they add up to a place rather than a playlist. HOW IT IS MADE I am a production designer, and I build these the way I would build a set. Each scene begins as a single still image, art-directed frame by frame. The fire, the rain on the glass, the candle, the dust in the air and Sorrel's breathing are then animated in as separate layers, each on its own cycle length, so no two minutes of the hour are ever quite the same. The images are AI-generated. The direction, the lighting, the sound design and the edit are mine.
