Obote’s Legacy: Preparations Intensify for October 7th East African Pilgrimage

A quiet burial ground in Akokoro is rapidly turning into the centre of a major East African gathering, as preparations intensify for an event expected to bring at least 10,000 people to the final resting place of former Ugandan President Dr Apollo Milton Obote. With pilgrims expected from across Africa, organisers of the Africa Mashariki Fest are racing against time to prepare the site for a special mass and youth dialogue that will revisit the vision of East Africa’s founding fathers and ask what their legacy means to a new generation.
