The game will be televised nationally on NBC. USC enters the matchup 4-0 and 1-0 in Big Ten play, while Oregon is 2-1 after bouncing back from its loss to Oklahoma State with an 84-0 win over Portland State. This is the first Big Ten meeting between two programs with significant recent history, and both teams enter with major questions to answer. USC has started undefeated but just allowed 35 points to Rutgers, while Oregon is trying to prove that its Oklahoma State loss was an aberration. Jayden Maiava Leads USC's Offense USC quarterback Jayden Maiava has been one of the biggest reasons for the Trojans' unbeaten start. Through four games, Maiava has produced multiple big performances, including a five-touchdown game against Louisiana. He followed that up with 277 passing yards and two touchdowns in USC's 42-35 win over Rutgers. Maiava has also benefited from the emergence of USC's young skill-position talent. Freshman Trent Mosley has emerged as an important weapon early in the season, although he missed the Rutgers game with a knee injury. Freshman tight end Mark Bowman has also made an impact, catching two touchdown passes against Louisiana. The Trojans' rushing attack has another major piece in King Miller, who rushed for 102 yards and a touchdown against Rutgers. Dante Moore Looks to Build on Oregon's Bounce-Back Oregon quarterback Dante Moore enters Week 4 after an impressive response to the Ducks' 39-31 loss at Oklahoma State. Moore completed 19 of 23 passes for 280 yards and four touchdowns in Oregon's 84-0 destruction of Portland State. That performance brought his season totals to 849 passing yards and nine touchdowns with no interceptions through three games. The challenge is that USC will present a dramatically different test. Against Oklahoma State, Oregon was outgained 554-281, while Moore completed just 14 of 29 passes for 191 yards. The Ducks now have to take that experience into their first Big Ten road game of the season. Oregon's offensive line and rushing attack will be especially important. If the Ducks can protect Moore and create room on the ground, it could open up the downfield passing game that makes Oregon so dangerous. Key Matchup: USC's Offense vs. Oregon's Defense The biggest matchup may be how USC handles Oregon's defensive front. USC has generated plenty of offensive production early in the season, but Oregon brings a much more talented defensive front than the Trojans have faced so far. At the same time, Oregon's defense has questions of its own. The Ducks allowed 554 total yards and 39 points to Oklahoma State, including 237 rushing yards. That makes USC's ability to establish Miller and the running game a major storyline. If USC can run effectively, Maiava could have opportunities to attack Oregon through play-action and prevent the Ducks from consistently bringing pressure. Oregon's Receiving Corps Faces an Injury Question Oregon also enters the matchup with an important injury storyline. Wide receiver Jeremiah McClellan missed the Portland State game after suffering what Dan Lanning described as a pregame injury. McClellan was seen wearing a walking boot and using crutches, and Lanning said he needed further evaluation. McClellan was outstanding in Oregon's season opener against Boise State, catching six passes for 150 yards and a touchdown. Starting tight end Jamari Johnson also missed the Portland State game with an injury after sitting out Oregon's loss to Oklahoma State. His status will be worth monitoring throughout the week. Biggest Storylines Can USC's defense slow down Oregon? The Trojans allowed 35 points and 460 total yards against Rutgers, including 292 passing yards. Oregon will provide another significant test.
