Punjab CM Office Alleged Corruption Case: New Supreme Court Development* Justice Sheel Nagu recused himself from hearing the Punjab Government's challenge to the High Court's order directing a CBI investigation into alleged corruption linked to the Chief Minister's Office. Justice Dipankar Datta indicated that the matter should be placed before the Chief Justice of India for assignment to another bench. According to reports, the CBI registered a case against six individuals, including Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann's OSD Rajbir Singh Ghumman, following the High Court's directions. The investigation concerns allegations relating to transfers, postings, tenders and administrative decisions. The Punjab Government has challenged the High Court's order in the Supreme Court. *3. Captain Amarinder Singh's Former OSD Gets Interim Relief* The Punjab and Haryana High Court granted interim relief to Sandeep Singh Sandhu, former OSD to Captain Amarinder Singh, and two other petitioners in a case concerning the alleged misappropriation of ₹65 lakh allocated for installing streetlights in villages of Ludhiana during 2021–22. The petitioners challenged certain trial court orders and raised concerns about the investigation process. The High Court stayed further proceedings against the petitioners under the challenged proceedings, with the next hearing scheduled for October 16, 2026. The relief is interim in nature and does not amount to a final acquittal.
