When you infuse traditional Korean Folk with modern music elements, you get LEENALCHI! When I first heard about this group performing at the Getty in LA, I was so intrigued, I had to make sure I attended their show tonight. The seven-piece band from South Korea had the crowd vibing and grooving to their cool infectious vocals and basslines. They played some of my favorites...'Bird', 'Tiger Is Coming', 'Good Fortune's Mine, Hard Luck's Yours', 'Here Comes That Crow', 'Hihi Haha...to name a few! Why was I not suprised when I found out they are signed to former Talking Heads frontman David Byrnes' record label, Luaka Bop? When you listen to LEENALCHI's diverse sound, it really makes sense! How ironic that I saw David Bryne's awesome Coachella set this year! Please show some love to this group. They are special and I can totally see them performing at Coachella in the future. Paul Tollett, are we on the same page? 오늘 밤 게티 센터 관객들은 현대 한국 민속 음악의 진수를 맛보았습니다! 한국 전통 민속 음악에 현대 음악 요소를 접목시킨 바로 그 그룹, 이날치! LA 게티 센터에서 공연한다는 소식을 처음 들었을 때 너무 궁금해서 꼭 오늘 밤 공연을 보러 가야겠다고 생각했죠. 한국 출신의 7인조 밴드 이날치는 멋진 보컬과 중독성 있는 베이스 라인으로 관객들을 열광시켰습니다. 제가 좋아하는 곡들을 많이 불러주셨는데, 'Bird', 'Tiger Is Coming', 'Here Comes That Crow', 'Hihi Haha' 등이 대표적이었어요! 이날치가 토킹 헤즈의 전 프론트맨 데이비드 번의 레이블인 루아카 밥 소속이라는 걸 알았을 때 전혀 놀랍지 않았어요. 이날치의 다채로운 음악을 들어보면 그 이유를 알 수 있죠! 마침 올해 코첼라에서 데이비드 번의 멋진 공연을 봤던 것도 참 아이러니하네요! 이 특별한 그룹에 많은 관심 부탁드립니다. 앞으로 코첼라에서 공연하는 모습을 꼭 보고 싶어요. 폴 톨렛, 우리 생각 같지 않나요?
