Haven't posted much jet ski stuff lately, and I surely haven't even posted anything regarding the Seadoos in at least 5 years, let alone, any riding videos of those, I'll find some and upload them eventually. But anyways, here's a recent acquisition, a ski I wanted for a while after riding one a while back, a Yamaha Waveblaster. I found this 1994 B1 back in late August for $1200. This ski has somewhat of a weird story, it was obviously raced at some point, and before going to the previous owner, everything was stripped and removed from it, including a rear exhaust conversion that for some reason was patched up, which I had since converted it back to. It had a 650 6M6 dropped in it, and a leaking/cracked midshaft housing. It did however have a Factory Pipe Waterbox in it already which I kept. I bought this one knowing I'll put a 701 in it, and because I like the more "timeless" color it was painted, but shortly after I started looking for a 61X/62T or a full 62T, a buddy of mine had a built 61X/62T for sale that was in his SN Superjet that he took out to put in a built 760, and I thought this would be a good opportunity to make a very fast ski that isn't bone stock. After that, I began sourcing things such as a pipe, intake/reeds, carbs, flame arrestor, flywheel, starter, and CDI, and ultimately, counting the price I bought the ski for, I put well over $3800 into it. It will need new Hydroturf since the turf that's on it is all worn out and doesn't really match the black and green style, and for sure an impeller since the stock impeller is probably only getting about 80-85% of the power down to the water, and only hits 47 MPH, when it should be hitting at least the low 50’s. Other then that, I'm probably going to change the pop off springs or pilot jet in the carbs since it still runs a bit rich and loads up on the low, even with the low speeds turned out only 1/2 a turn. Currently has 80 gram springs, 75 pilots, and 135 mains, but I'm likely going to change the springs out to 95 grams, or put in 70 pilot jets. Complete specs are as follows: 701 61X/62T, Ported and Bored 1mm over to 718cc ProX 82mm Pistons DASA Girdled Head, running 36cc Domes, 175 psi Boysen Reeds Dual Mikuni SBN 38's Primer R&D Flame Arrestor Coffman Rocket Pipe Factory Pipe Waterbox Watcon Rear Exhaust MSD Enhancer CDI MSD Coil Bilge Pump Ocean Pro Ride plate Protec Scoop grate Fat Bars ODI Grips Hood Strut Kit
