Every crew carries someone they never got to meet.
Long before Apali joined the Dead Crew, there was Kepri — the Scarab, the most feared and most trusted pirate of his age. He never looted for greed, never killed without reason. What made him a legend was who he saved: the smuggled, the fleeing, anyone who needed a way out that no one else would give them. It should have made him untouchable. Instead, it made him a target. Betrayed and sunk by the same name the Crew now hunts across Githeon — Loreli the Salamander.
Folk battle chant, written and built with AI (Suno) as the instrument.
A Dead Crew lore track — Kepri's story, before Apali's.

(Verse 1)
The sands of the Nile held his body in rust,
But his soul was a fire that turned gold into dust.
They bought and they sold them like coins in a hand,
But he dreamed of a wind sweeping the sand.
No choice in the labor, no voice in the plea,
Until the black flags came to set the cage free.
The master fell hard as the mainmast groan,
He carved out a life that was finally his own.
(Chorus)
Oh, break every link, let the heavy chains fall,
For freedom is worth more than silver at all!
No master above us, no walls to confine,
The soul of the ocean is all that is mine.
Oh, haul on the line, let the salt burn your eyes,
For the Scarab is risen beneath stormy skies!
(Verse 2)
The greatest who sailed, never struck a white flag,
While the merchants would tremble and ships would just lag.
For a man who is shackled has nothing to lose,
And liberty’s light is the path we must choose.
(Verse 3)
But the sea hides a serpent in waters so deep,
And promises made are the ones we can’t keep.
No storm in the heavens, no gale in the west,
Could quiet the iron that pierced through his chest.
The traitorous kiss of the Salamander’s hand,
Brought the greatest of pirates to sink in the sand.
She struck with a blade made of treachery's cold,
A cowardly end to a story untold.
(Chorus)
Oh, break every link, let the heavy chains fall,
For freedom is worth more than silver at all!
No master above us, no walls to confine,
The soul of the ocean is all that is mine.
Oh, haul on the line, let the salt burn your eyes,
For the Scarab is fallen beneath stormy skies!
(Outro)
(Slow, deep, fading rhythmic stomping)
Aye, the ocean remembers...
The ocean remembers...
The ocean remembers...
