Since he wants to share some of the food with his dogs, he keeps the eggs and salmon unseasoned and carefully removes every bone from the fish. He also prepares breakfast for his Akita dogs first, mixing a homemade meat-and-vegetable paste with amazake, unsweetened yogurt, roast beef, and supplements. After breakfast and cleanup, he heads to his dagashi shop with his three dogs, using the space of his family’s tatami shop that continued for more than 70 years.
