I Bought a HOARDER'S House! Treasures Under the Trash

I bought an apartment with EVERYTHING still inside — furniture, jewelry, a working Singer sewing machine and a postcard collection dating back to 1915. Nobody had touched any of it for years. When I opened the door, I honestly didn't expect this much. Every room was packed so tightly there was barely a place to put my foot down. The washing machine was still in the bathroom, the fridge and gas stove still in the kitchen, and the living room looked like someone had walked out one day and simply never come back. It felt a little eerie standing there — surrounded by decades of somebody's life, all of it left behind. Then the finds started. Glass plates that glow when you hold them to the light. Beads, bracelets, a box of earrings with stones I still can't identify. Two brooches — one of them set with something that might even be diamonds. A full home bar with souvenir figurines, including a pair of little hippos. Cosmetics, old family photographs, a plate painted with birds, a teapot that could be silver. In the next room a fur coat still hung in the wardrobe. A teenager's bedroom with a keyboard. Shelves of books, a Panasonic VCR — and then a heavy case that turned out to hold a Singer sewing machine with the original decals intact. I plugged it in. It still works. But the real treasure was the paper. The man who lived here was a serious collector: a catalogued card file of postcards, signed and sorted, some dating to 1916 and 1915 with the original postmarks still on them. Along with them, an antique button, coins I can't identify, a stone mosaic painting, and a box of old medical syringes that made me wonder what he went through.
