Mapusa MLA Joshua De Souza said the CM’s visit was aimed at finding a practical temporary location for government departments that will need to be shifted once work begins on the old Mamlatdar building. De Souza said the newly renovated Sub-Registrar’s Office is expected to be inaugurated soon, while the proposed Bardez Bhavan project through GSIDC remains a long-term plan. He said a large hall above the Mapusa Fish Market was shown to the Chief Minister as a possible temporary facility to accommodate government offices. According to De Souza, the CM responded positively and a meeting is expected next week to explore how departments can be accommodated there without disrupting public services.
