Deep Purple -April
In the autumn of 1969, the British hard rock band Deep Purple played in a quarry in Erkenbrechtsweiler in the district of Esslingen.
The performance took place as part of the production of a music film for regional television.
Deep Purple was supported by the Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra during the performance of the 12-minute classic-rock suite called "April".
The recordings are part of the television art film "P2", produced by Süddeutscher Rundfunk (SDR).
The film was directed by Werner Schretzmeier, who remains a prominent figure in the cultural scene of the Stuttgart region to this day.
He was not only the co-founder of two locations in Schorndorf—the club "Manufaktur" and the youth center "Hammerschlag"—but was also involved in founding the Stuttgart "Theaterhaus", which he still directs today
