Lorimer Moseley: The Will, Skill and Thrill of Pain Education

Professor Lorimer Moseley discusses the latest developments in pain education and how clinicians can improve their teaching strategies to help patients better understand and manage their pain. Lorimer introduces the Pain Education Team to Advance Learning (PETAL) and highlights research showing room for improvement in achieving learning objectives through pain neuroscience education. He explains how constructivism-based learning frameworks, patient-centred language, and "essential pain facts" derived from patient research can bridge this gap. Lorimer also provides insights into the skill sets clinicians need to become better pain educators, including understanding learning principles, fostering the will to learn, teaching-learning skills, and helping patients experience the thrill of positive change. Lorimer also highlights common mistakes educators make, such as over-relying on their own knowledge. This webinar offers valuable information for healthcare professionals looking to enhance their pain education strategies and provide more effective support to patients living with pain.
