Frank Fontaine is the master of ceremonies of the TV series Frank Fontaine's Showtime. The television series went into first-run syndication in mid-1955. The series incorporated the Snader Telescriptions library of musicals filmed for television. Fontaine's usual comic characterization was a floppy hat, baggy suit, and goofy voice. In Frank Fontaine's Showtime he appeared in a business suit with no comic accessories or makeup. Fontaine's role was to stand in front of a theater curtain, offer a comic monologue, and then introduce each filmed performance as though the artists were taking the stage in person. The show made its debut on KTTV in Los Angeles on June 3, 1955. Very entertaining musical show, with singing, dancing, and musicians. Pretty girls, handsome men.
