Kammie J. DeGhetto, Col (Ret.), USAF, LCSW
Kammie J. DeGhetto is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and retired United States Air Force
Colonel with more than 30 years of combined military and civilian experience in mental health,
leadership, and clinical practice. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Counselor
Education and Supervision at Concordia University’s Townsend Institute, with anticipated
graduation in August 2027. Her scholarly interests center, allostatic load, moral injury, vicarious
trauma, secondary traumatic stress, and the systemic impact of chronic stress on Special
Operations Forces (SOF) families.
Colonel DeGhetto served a combination of active duty and Reserve in the U.S. Air Force from
1994 to 2019, providing psychotherapy, leadership, and clinical oversight to active-duty service
members, veterans, and their families across diverse operational and international settings. Since retiring from military service, she has continued her clinical work in both private and
institutional settings, including emergency psychiatric services, telehealth psychotherapy,
ketamine-assisted therapy, and psychological support for psychedelic clinical trials. She currently practices with Wellsprings Counseling Group in Tennessee and Beau Hill Psychological Services in Tennessee and Florida, offering trauma-informed psychotherapy, consultation, and group programming.
Her clinical approach is integrative, client-centered, and evidence-based, drawing from EMDR,
CBT, IFS, somatic trauma therapies, and spiritually integrated care. In addition to her clinical
work, Kammie is actively engaged in counselor education scholarship and professional service. She has presented nationally on counselor competency assessment, interdisciplinary identity development in CES doctoral programs, effects of traumatic brain injury on mental health, psychedelic research, leadership, and the unique stressors faced by Special Operations families.
Kammie serves as a board member of the Special Operations Forces (SOF) Network—the
nation’s first clinical directory dedicated to mental health providers serving the SOF
community—and on the Spouse Advisory Board for the STEPs Foundation, supporting SOF
spouses nationwide. She is a member of the American Counseling Association, American
Association of Christian Counselors, and Christian Association of Psychological Studies.
Through her work as a clinician, scholar, and advocate, she remains deeply committed to
advancing ethical practice, interdisciplinary collaboration, and trauma-responsive systems of
care for military-connected populations and the next generation of counselor educators.
