GSP Chase Ends in Fatal Rollover After Driver Flees at 100+ MPH

A Georgia State Patrol traffic stop on I-75 turned into a dangerous high-speed pursuit that ultimately ended in a fatal rollover crash. According to the trooper’s report, a silver Ford Focus was spotted making multiple lane changes without signaling, following other vehicles too closely, and failing to maintain its lane. The trooper paced the Ford at approximately 88 mph in a 55 mph zone before attempting a traffic stop near I-285. Instead of stopping, the driver allegedly fled and began making aggressive lane changes through traffic. According to GSP, the driver nearly struck another vehicle, traveled in the HOV lane without a passenger, and eventually reached speeds exceeding 100 mph. The pursuit continued northbound on I-75 before the driver exited toward Georgia 166. Authorities say the driver attempted an improper lane change at high speed, lost control of the Ford, struck an embankment, and overturned. The trooper stopped near the overturned vehicle and ordered the driver to exit but received no response. After additional units arrived, officers approached the vehicle and discovered that the driver had suffered fatal injuries in the crash.
