Spectacular Transformation! From Abandoned Yacht Club to Stunning Modern Home | Old Yacht Club

#housedesign #renovation #modernarchitecture #stonehouse Old Yacht Club is a restoration and renovation project by ElliottArchitects that transforms a former 1919 yacht club in Blue Hill, USA, into a modern residence without compromising its historical value. The main challenge of this project was to reinforce its fragile foundation and adapt the structure to current flood regulations. To achieve this, the upper part of the building was dismantled, while the Club Room and its chimney were carefully reconstructed. A new wood and steel structure was built, maintaining the original form but incorporating modern elements such as large sliding glass panels and glass dormers for natural lighting. The landscape was designed ceremonially, guiding residents along a stone pathway toward a terrace overlooking the ocean. The integration of traditional and contemporary elements creates a home that harmonizes with its surroundings. In addition to preserving aesthetics and history, the project prioritizes energy efficiency and sustainability, making it an inspiring example of residential design that honors the past while meeting the needs of the present.
