A couple of months ago, for my MUHC colleagues and everyone else fighting against Covid19, I posted a song of hope for the rainbow effet. It was Giacomo Puccini’s Nessun Dorma from the opera Turandot. (Everyone should see that opera)
Now, a couple months later, and 4 months after the beginning of Covid19, I’d like to post another one.
We all, at one point or another, go through difficult times in our lives, and this Covid19 has traumatized and terrified family members, friends, coworkers and so many people all around the world.
The strong don’t worry about it and don’t fear it, but the others do.
I’ve been lucky not to have caught it during the outbreaks at the Neuro and the MGH, nor in the Glen (no outbreaks, had/has Covid units).
But not all my colleagues have been that lucky.
I can go on about all the confusion, all the nonlogical decisions made by the government, administration, and others in power positions, when it came to not testing staff at all (even the ones working in Covid units)... Or trying to force infected staff who were home, back to work while still being positive... The deception of not being recognized as frontline workers, when we, transport attendants, are directly in contact with patients when transferring/transporting them... And the fact most of my colleagues felt their health and lives weren’t really important to some. (Hierarchy) ... But I won’t.
I will say this though... I’ve, like many I’m sure, spent a lot of time alone, often walked alone and felt alone at times. But I know I’ve never truly been alone... even in my darkest moments.
So for all those struggling, worrying, stressing, panicking during this time of Covid19, know that you are not alone.
Remember that... You’ll never walk alone.
Stay safe! 🙏🏼 🌈
When you walk through a storm
Hold your head up high
And don't be afraid of the dark
At the end of a storm
There's a golden sky
And the sweet silver song of a lark
Walk on through the wind
Walk on through the rain
Though your dreams be tossed and blown
Walk on, walk on
With hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone
You'll never walk alone
